lmi has been involved in a number of matters for one of Canada’s leading litigation boutique firms. Cases have included matters pertaining to insurance coverage; directors’ liability; a construction class action and a five year project involving multinational corporations and the Federal Government.
Department of Justice Canada
lmi assisted Counsel defending an action arising out of a complex tender process. Paralegals compiled the List of Documents of some 120,000 documents. lmi provided in-house Project and Document Managers in the project and liaised with staff and counsel. An lmi team of junior counsel and document analysts assisted in the determination of cabinet confidence and conducted subjective reviews of all productions. lmi also: - developed and operated a document imaging system, with electronic links between images, the database information and the electronic transcripts. - developed and operated an electronic system to manage the hundreds of undertakings given during the Examinations for Discovery. - assisted counsel generally in preparation for trial.
lmi has been retained on various matters for this sole practitioner specialising in environmental litigation. lmi has scanned and catalogued documents for Affidavits of Documents and delivering them in various customized electronic formats; digitalised documents and prepared image viewing systems based on, inter alia, Microsoft Excel; organized and linked undertakings; de-duped emails and prepared them for production.
lmi managed the documents and other evidence for Commission counsel. Paralegals catalogued 75,000 documents in 8 weeks. Concurrently, lmi was responsible for 10 staff lawyers who subjectively reviewed documents and assessed them for cabinet confidence all within lmi’s proprietary software.
Nova Scotia, Public Prosecution Service (Special Prosecutions Section)
lmi designed and installed a document and evidence management system in aboriginal rights litigation. The system managed the objective data, images and full text transcripts and OCR documents. lmi paralegals catalogued the objective data and performed scanning, OCR and full text data management.
